Cheers for the vid. Just got my ram delivered today.
@DetroitBORG Don’t be sorry about it, it gives a very personal style on each and every video!
Thanks for the video. I have always been nervous to change any kind of computer hardware.
But your excelent tutorial made med less nervous. So thanks for the great video
@NearyStudios Backups are always a good thing to have… but no.,
@NearyStudios No.
@DetroitBORG
Do you have an SSD installed in your mac? How fast are boot up times?
8 gigs of RAM (DDR3, 1333Mhz) cost just $70 including shipping on Amazon uk. that’s awesome!!!
Do you have to back up your files on your hard drive before you do the upgrade? Please answer. Thanks.
Hello thanks for the vid! This works with any kind of imac? Mine is a 2.66 i5 intel core 2duo (late 2009) it has 4 gb and i want to upgrade it with 16 gb
Thanks for letting me know about Crucial. Here in the UK a 16GB (4x4GB) RAM upgrade from Apple costs £480, but from Crucial they only charge £79 for the four 16gb chips! That is just unbelievable! UNBELIEVABLE!
@DetroitBORG No worries
just something i noticed. it makes your videos somewhat unique as well
@horsdad It’s even cheaper now
@ReinierESP Yes, they use the same specs and Samsung chips.
@J1MP4NS3 I know, sorry about that
@ReptileGamer Doesn’t matter, but 8GB modules are very expensive and not worth it.
@Robbsaber02 No, only the 27″ model has 4 RAM slots. You could install 8GB RAm modules to achieve the same, but they are extremely expensive.
@gg4rza Yep, they will work. The Amazon listing has reviewers who have used them in their Macs.
@cripincuzz15 Only the 27″ models, the 21.5″ models are configurable to 8GB since they only have two RAM slots.
@PinoDeNerd Sure!
@J96Newton The Mac mini has only 2 slots, so you would need very expensive 8GB RAM modules to achieve the same.
@dslme123 Thanks!
@MonkeyManWill It will work if the chips are compatible with the Mac. Keep in mind that if one chip is slower than the other, both chips will be down-clocked, that’s the only real concern with installing mismatched RAM.
@HU55UN1 Nope, doesn’t matter!
@browzy2000 Thanks
@azbcaz Yes you can and it doesn’t matter where you plug them in, but you want to keep the RAM modules of the same size paired together, meaning 2GB in DIMM 0 and DIMM 1 and 4GB in DIMM 0 and DIMM 1. If that makes sense.
